The SMEplacement site was formed in 2018 by Kieran Best when he identified a need to make it easier for undergraduates to secure an interesting and stimulating placement job – ‘real’ employment experience – within small-medium sized enterprises. And for these SMEs to have a place where their companies can stand out in the war for undergraduate talent.
Kieran has had a successful career in HR management and outsourced recruitment consultancy and sees the future in recruitment as being in choosing specialist partners to support HR teams. He has recruited staff at all levels and in all disciplines and has used numerous job sites, both as an agency and directly for employers. It has become a more crowded sector with large generalist job sites dominating the market. Consequently traffic has increased, and the volume of ads likewise, making it quite an exercise attracting a particular skillset and sorting through multiple (irrelevant) applications.
He sees the SMEplacement website as:
A direct route to market for undergraduates on a 4 year course looking for that elusive placement job
An opportunity to assist stretched University careers service teams
A cost-effective and efficient advertising solution for SMEs in attracting staff
